OSX Mountain Lion 10.8 Mac mail setup (Mac mail 6) Setup



  1. Launch Apple Mail. If this is the first time you are using Apple Mail, the "Welcome to Mail" window will appear.
  2. If this is not the first time you are using Apple Mail, go to the "Mail" menu and choose "Preferences". The "Accounts" window will appear
  3. Under "Accounts", click the + button to bring up the "Add Account" window
  4. In the "Welcome to Mail or Add an Account" window:
    1. Enter your name as you wish it to appear on your outgoing email messages in the "Full Name" field
    2. In the "Email Address" field, enter your MetroCast email address
    3. In the "Password" field, enter your MetroCast password
    4. Click "Continue"
  5. The Incoming Mail Server screen will appear
    1. From the "Account Type" dropdown menu, select POP
    2. In the "Description field", enter a name for the account, i.e. MetroCast email
    3. In the "Incoming Mail Server" field, enter pop.metrocast.net or pop.[state].metrocast.net if applicable
    4. In the "User Name" field, enter your full Metrocast email address
    5. In the "Password" field, enter your MetroCast password, click Continue
    6. Uncheck "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)" and "Authentication" is "Password"
  6. The Outgoing Mail Server screen will appear
    1. In the "Description field", enter a name for the account, i.e. MetroCast email
    2. In the "Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server" field, enter smtp.metrocast.net or smtp.[state].metrocast.net if applicable
    3. Check "Use Only This Server"
    4. Check the box marked "Use Authentication"
    5. Enter your full e-mail address for the Username
    6. Enter your Metrocast e-mail password
    7. Check "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)" and set "Authentication" to "Password"
    8. Click Continue and the Account Summary screen will appear
  7. On the Account Summary window, verify the settings and checkmark "Take account online" then "Create" to finish the account creation process
