• How many High Definition stations can I get with MetroCast cable?
  
  
  There are over 14 HD networks that you can view through MetroCast.

• Do I have to be a Digital Cable customer to get HDTV?
  
  
  Yes. Digital Cable service is required.
  
  
  
  
• What do I need to get HDTV from MetroCast?
  
  
  You will need to subscribe to any MetroCast Digital Package, subscribe to one of our levels of HD service, own either an HD-ready or HD-capable TV set, and have a MetroCast technician install a digital high definition converter. However, if you currently have the DVR converter, you will not have to replace that equipment as it is a Digital converter as well as a High Definition converter.
  
  
  
  
• Is there an additional charge for HD service?
  
  
  Yes. The charge will be in addition to the Digital package you subscribe to.
  
  
  
• On which channels would I find MetroCast's HD programming?

• Do I need a special TV to be able to see HDTV?
  
  
  Yes. You will need a High Definition TV set.
  
  
  
  
• What is the difference between an HD-capable and an HD-ready TV?
  
  
  HD-ready sets have the HDTV receiver/decoder built-in and the HD-capable sets still require the external receiver/decoder needed to receive digital broadcasts.
  
  
  
  
  
• What is the difference between HDTV and current Digital services?
  
  
  High Definition television provides 1080i (interlaced) lines of resolution while the current digital services offer 720p (progressive) lines of resolution. HD also offers wide screen picture viewing with picture quality not unlike a 35mm camera as well as sound quality of a compact disc (CD).
  
  
  
  
• Will HDTV sets make mine obsolete?
  
  
  No. Your television will just not be capable of receiving the same sound and picture quality that an HDTV set can.
  
  
  
  
• Will my DVD's be viewed in High Definition?
  
  
  You can watch DVD's with your HDTV set, however they will not be viewed in true High Definition. The DVD format was developed before High Definition and therefore cannot utilize the HD technology.
